From Gradara Castle to the old village of Fiorenzuola di Focara – arrival at Gradara in the afternoon to visit the castle, that reminds the magnificence of the strong families that there have ruled: Malatesta, Sforza and Della Rovere. It was built around the XII century, this small village is closet between the first and second circles of wall. It is also famous for the tragedy of Paolo and Francesca of 1289. Walk in the historical village. Then it will follows the visit of Fiorenzuola di Focara, roman village that later was trasformed into a castle by the Archbishop of Ravenna. Stop in this ancient village of the “San Bartolo” natural Park, at 177 Mts. from the sea level, with circle of wall of pentagonal-shaped and one side overhanging the sea. The writer and poet Dante Alighieri mentioned it in his poem “Divina Commedia” “Poi farà si ch’al vento di Focara – non farà lor mestier voto né preco” (Inferno, XXVIII, vv. 89-90). Transfer to Mondavio: here an ancient inn of the beginning of 1900 located in front of the magnificent Fortress of Francesco di Giorgio Martini will welcome you with a family and warm atmosphere and a typical dinner. Overnight.
Urbino the ideal town of Renaissance, Urbania and the Casteldurante ceramics special dinner in the restaurant of the historical Monastery - breakfast in the hotel, transfer to Urbino for the visit of the city of the “Duca di Montefeltro”, became the “Ideal city” of the Renaissance period. Visit of the “Palazzo Ducale”, “Oratorio San Giovanni, “Fortezza Albornoz”, the Cathedral. Rich tasting of the typical products of the area with a special inn of the historical centre of Urbino. In the afternoon, transfer to Urbania for a short visit of its historical centre (“Palazzo Ducale”, “Chiesa dei Morti” and the shops of the ceramics of Casteldurante). Then driving along the Metauro valley you will arrive in a medieval village, where you will have dinner in a restaurant overlooking the hills of the Montefeltro area. Back to the hotel and overnight.
Fossombrone, “la Gola del Furlo” and lunch in a rural tasting centre –breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Fossombrone, ancient village situated in the middle valley of the “Metauro” river. Its main monuments are made up of a collection of castles and fortresses on the hill up on the village: “Corte Bassa”, “Palazzo Ducale” and “Corte Alta”, today used partly or totally as museums of history and art. Driving along the road that connects Urbino and Fossombrone, partly along the “Candigliano” river, you will arrive in the suggestive natural area of “Gola del Furlo”, where the thousand-year erosion of the river had created an impressive and majestic landscape: after passing through the roman gallery, visit the splendid Roman-Gothic Church of “San Vincenzo al Furlo”. It will follows a special lunch in a high-quality rural tasting centre of the Cartoceto area (famous for the olive oil production) , with a menu prepared in respect for the local traditions.
